havana style.

The next place I live in I want to have a Cuban inspired style to it as far as decorating goes. I love the old antiqued furniture with bright blues, yellows, reds, and greens. These photos are from a book I bought, Havana Style, which has tons of photos in it for inspiration.

Do it!

summer dreamin'.

This summer I must plan on going to the beach more. Well, beach as in beach of Lake Michigan...but I haven't utilized it pretty much since I've lived in Chicago. So. Resolution made. Can you make resolutions after January 1st? Yes? Ok. 

Other things I am looking forward to that come with summer:

• Music Festivals. Pitchfork, Lollapalooza...but my favorites are the smaller festivals within each neighborhood area. Especially when I'm introduced to new music I end up loving, like Frightened Rabbit.
• With festivals, there's always festival food. Yum. 'Nuff said.
• Random friends inviting everyone over for some grilling. Hot dogs, hamburgers. Heaven, duh.
• Walking around the neighborhood, with no real reason of going anywhere except for walking. Me, my iPod, and people watching. Awesome.
• Sun dresses. Maxi dresses. Anything long, haltered, and jersey!
• In general most people you haven't seen throughout the winter coming out of the woodwork because it's so damn nice out!
• And a separate, special mention to my all time favorite festival drink: Lemonade Shake-Ups.

i don't know how gaga does it.

So I did an attempt at soda (ahem, beer) can rollers yesterday. I don't know how Gaga does it at all. I could not get them to stay in. I suppose she has a team of stylists to do so, but still. I don't get it.

braid it up.

I have been in love lately with herringbone braids and pretty much all types of braids. Wunderkind and Christian Dior both had them on their fall runway:

Now all I must do is practice, practice practice. Because welp, I suck at them so far. But thanks to the wonderful wonderful world of youtube tutorials, I am starting to get the hang of how to do them! This was my first attempt, using aznlucycanada's tutorial:

  ...I got the dress!

I went out Saturday night and wore it, even though it wasn't particularly at a place that required me to dress up. But hey, why not?

gisele: us vogue.

Gisele is in this week's US Vogue, and she looks great! I just got the issue a few days ago in the mail, and what caught my eye first was the photo of her horseback riding (above, duh). The issue also features a photo of her pregnant, along with another photo with her and her new baby. See them here.

I heart yellow. I did end up buying that JPG for Target yellow dress because I absolutely loved the color. It's in a weird fabric -- it's almost like a rain coat plastic-y fabric -- but the yellow made me see it through rose (yellow?) colored glasses and buy it. But the fabric, it's so CHEAP!
