road trip!

This weekend will be super fun -- I am taking a road trip and heading out to Wisconsin for a party at a friend's house by the lake. This will be the third annual time I've gone and it should be a blast! I'm making some taco dip for the occasion and (fingers crossed) I'm going to try not to eat it before I get there.

Speaking of which, since I will probably be in a bikini, I've started Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred again, and boy am I out of shape. I also think I'm a bit short on time to get into any sort of bikini shape, so I should have totally started it sooner. It will be a 3 day shred, which I doubt will deliver any of the same results. Oops.

But it will be a weekend of drinking, pontoon boating, and general shenanigans with a lot of people I haven't hung out with in a while. It should be a good time! I'm going to try to take a ton of photos and also shoot some film with my Diana F+ camera that I've neglected since I've bought it. If I get any good ones I will post them on here!

tequila!

So Lulu's totally has the Jeffrey Campbell Lita shoes I bought only in a "mustard" color. And I love these too! No, I'm not going to BUY them, but I am trying to put a finger on why I love these shoes so much. I think it's because they remind me of a combination of old school roller skates and the scene in Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure where he visits the biker bar and does the dance on the bar to the song "Tequila." So my story is, well...I like these shoes because they remind me of pretty sweet moments in my childhood. Yep. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. That, or I want to be Pee Wee Herman, and that can't be it.

(a pretty great quote)

what i wore: to pitchfork music festival.

So it was seriously almost 100 degrees yesterday, and I went to Pitchfork. I hung out in the sun for about 4 hours listening to music and getting a square shaped sunburn on my back where I missed sunblock. This is before the fact, in my new apartment (moving in tomorrow!) and before I pretty much said "eff it" and put my hair up and sweated off any sort of makeup I had put on at the festival. Oh Summer, I miss you when it's cold, but oh my god you are too much sometimes.

what i wore: maxi dress love!

So Pitchfork Music Festival is this weekend which I am excited about and it is the perfect summer weather for long airy maxi dresses. This one is my favorite by Rachel Pally. And you can convert it into a halter or tube dress or anything else you can come up with!

try it on: chanel's fall rtw makeup.

Chanel's Fall RTW 2010 show had some really cool eye makeup going on. Kind of smudged, kind of smokey. I thought it would be cool to test it out. Seemed like the easiest way to achieve it would be to take a mascara wand and just smudge it all over the eyelid. This was the result:

It might be GOOD for nighttime, but not sure where I'd wear it!

viva españa!

Check out Jessica Stam's editoral shot in Spain for Harper's Bazaar here. I've been wanting to go to Spain for a while and have been thinking of a trip overseas next year sometime (I was thinking Italy, Ireland, or Spain) but these shots make me think Spain even more!

what i wore: denim chambray

One of the perks of moving is that you find clothes you forgot you had tucked away in a drawer somewhere. I found these white Charlotte Ronson shorts yesterday, and I don't think I've worn them for at least 4 years. Surprisingly they still fit. (Phew!)

positivity post!

I know I talk a lot about topics that are a bit well...superficial to some people, so here's a post devoted to some of my favorite reads on positivity (because it is SUPER important to be positive, everyone!)

One of my favorite blogs to read is Positively Present. It offers some really useful tools and advice on how to stay present and positive in your life. A really good read. This week focuses on letting go of the past and living for the moment. Which is is great advice, let me tell you. I know I have a tendency to think a lot of "what ifs" in life which isn't really forward moving or helpful, for that matter. So check it out here!

Also, another great blog going on is my friend Emily's 12 Months of Bliss. Each month, she is providing you with a challenge to bring out the happiness in you as well as helping to find it in others (which in turn, I'm finding, makes you happy about yourself. It's a win win!) The challenge is only on month two, so jump on in.

what i wore: valerie tolosa dress!

This weekend one of my friends from out in the suburbs came out to see me who I hadn't seen in at least 4 years. It was so good to catch up with her and see what each other has been up too. My favorite friends are the ones that when you haven't seen them in a long time and then you can snap right back into everything like you haven't been apart at all. A really good time! We walked around my neighborhood a bit and got lunch, though the shoes I'm wearing had to come off as soon as I got home. Either I'm getting too old or I need to start wearing heels more so my feet are used to them again! Also, pockets will make me fall in love with any dress, I think.

Blake Lively. Man, I love her style. I love this whole outfit! Maybe since she's on the set of Gossip Girl, I should say I love her stylist...but, you know. LOVE.
