happy halloween weekend!

So yesterday I was a unicorn when I went out (and yes, this is totally a "I'm in my bathroom taking a photo" shot), tonight I'm going as some sort of greek goddess. And it's my birthday at 12 o'clock midnight tonight! Yay!

Saturday it was super rainy and crappy out, but it cleared up for a bit during the day so I can could take a few photos outside. I think I might have like, no outfit posts during the winter because I really don't have any place to take photos inside. So it will either be no photos, or maybe photos in which I am freezing to death outside. But ummm, I'm sure I'll work something out. Anyway, I really need to buy more camel color stuff. I'm really starting to like the color.

When I saw this shirt online at Zara, I fell in love with it. I went to Zara last month and couldn't find it anywhere though. Lo and behold, I went to the one downtown here and they had it! My only issue with it is that it's super short, and I have liked things lately that are a bit longer, so I layered a shirt underneath. I love the peter pan collar!

what i wore: shopping day.

So, on top of getting the horse tights from Anthropologie, I also went and got the fox ones as well! Also, the suede taupe Litas from Jeffrey Campbell. Since apparently that wasn't enough things to buy, I also went shopping some more this weekend. My excuse? One of my old high school friends was in town from Arizona! So yes. Shop shop shop. I am making a weird face in this photo, but whatever. I think I'm only capable of not making weird faces if I am taking the picture myself. Go figure.

zara: october lookbook.

It's the weekend, finally! It felt like this work week was lasting forever. I have a 3-day weekend now and my high school friend is in town visiting from Arizona, so it should be really fun to see her. I am fully intent on having bit of drinks, catching up, and just hopefully having a bunch of fun when she's in town. I haven't seen her in a few years! Also, I am going to try and hit up Zara sometime this weekend too. The new lookbook is out for October and there's a lot of things I like. Here's a few of my favorites:

basket weaved.

I am still in love with Alexander McQueen's basket weaved braids from the Spring 2011 collection. I wondered if I could somehow do it myself, but looking at the backstage photos I'm probably missing about 5 or 6 more hands (and a ton more hair)!

So, I really really liked these fox tights from Anthropologie. Well, little did I know that I totally overlooked that they also have ones with horses on them too! In heather grey, no less! Needless to say, I had to buy myself a pair. I also spent wayyyy too much at H&M, who just put out a ton of new stuff when I was there. Lots of airy silk stuff, soft flowy sweaters, and leather! I'll try and post a few outfits this weekend! 

I also bought the cutest paintings at Urban Outfitters from artist Jen Lobo:

Whales! Playing with ships! They are really beautiful in person. And the 2nd one was marked down in the store I went to to $19.99 from $68. Such a deal, especially since they're both on canvas stretched over a wood frame. I have them hanging in my bedroom now. So cute. Find them both here.

So I said I would try and wear red lipstick more, but I'm still trying to find a good shade. The J.Crew models always seems to have the most perfect shade -- a poppy color maybe? I like this shade, which is L'Oreal's "British Red" but I also bought another at Sephora which was too orange for my skin tone. I guess it's all trial and error?
