cosmic love.

“This project began from the theory that humans are made of cosmic matter as a result of a stars death. I created imagery that showcased this cosmic birth through the use of dust and reflective confetti to create galaxies. The models organic bodily expressions as they are frozen in time between the particles suggest their celestial creation. In addition, space and time is heightened by the use of three-dimensional animated gifs. Their movement serves as a visual metaphor to the spatial link we share with stars as well as their separateness through time.” – Ignacio Torres

what i wore: (if my life is mine, what shouldn't i do?)

Sooooo. Summertimes. I've been outside a lot this past weekend, which felt wonderful. I just moved to a new place, and it's got a deck so I feel the need to make the most of it. Because, why not? (And I think I'm gonna ask myself to STFU because I think every 5 minutes I make a reference to MY DECK lately. MY DECK.) So, for now, this is my new outfit space. AND, with packing/unpacking, I've remembered my long lost Chie Miharas I got a few years ago. They were my shoe BFF for a while! I've been jamming to this song all day, just 'cause:

And I'm so excited, you know.

new spaces.

I've moved! Feels good being in a new place. (But no more outfit posts against that old wall! Gotta find a new spot.)

Pretty rad ad from Australian brand, Ksubi. (And Bambi is in it! I mean, those EYEBROWS.)

This has been on my jam list since I heard it last month (two months ago?) (Thanks Sam!)

what i wore: (patchwork)

Hellloooo, ladies and gents. Today is the first day of summer! Tornado warnings are blaring on my TV screen as I type, just in time for it. Anywhoo, I got this dress at Desigual in Spain. To be quite honest, most of their stuff isn't really my style -- Howevs! I really liked this patchwork print dress. I'm a sucker for any clothing that appears as if someone closed their eyes, stuck their hand in a box of various knick-knacks and fabrics, and were forced to sew them all together by gunpoint (regardless if they match or not). Also, MY SHOES. They are from Berksha, also purchased in Spain. LOVE. Maybe these things don't even go together, and maybe I shouldn't wear them together, but what can I say...

what i wore: (disco queen)

Now, I know I buy a lot of silly things. But -- this might be one of the silliest. I mean, even I was like, "Really, do you NEED sparkly silver glitter shoes? PLATFORM shoes, no less? No seriously, Melissa, you don't. Where are you going to wear these to unless you are constantly going to a 70s disco club every night?" But somehow I just told myself to stfu because I was going to see Florence + The Machine last night and yes, indeed, I needed sparkly shoes to fit the bill. So there. And I wore them today, too, in the daylight. And they were fantastic, self. Thank you for asking. Now don't give me any lip.

Besides, if there's ever a disco remake of Wizard of Oz and they need a Wicked Witch of the East, there's always this:

what i wore: (souvenirs and memories)

So! In Barcelona I went to the Dali Theater-Museum (which is actually in Figueres, two hours away via train!) and saw loads of Dali's artwork. It was pretty amazing to see the artwork up close and see how painstakingly detailed everything was. The 'museum' was actually an old theater transformed into a multi-level gallery of all sorts of crazy surreal art from Dali. And welp, since I am a total tourist, and I love this his painting Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening, I got a pretty sweet (and possibly overpriced, but whatevs) t-shirt of it there. But I love it, and it's a little memento of how cool it was to be there. A pretty awesome experience!

"All is well, and you will never get it done. Life is supposed to be fun. No one is taking score of any kind, and if you will stop taking score so much, you will feel a whole lot better - and as you feel a whole lot better, more of the things that you want right now will flow to you. You will never be in a place where all of the things that you are wanting will be satisfied right now, or then you could be complete - and you never can be. This incomplete place that you stand is the best place that you could be. You are right on track, right on schedule. Everything is unfolding perfectly. All is really well. Have fun. Have fun. Have fun!"

what i wore: (crochet)

Hi internet! Sorry for the no posts, but I have been in Barcelona for the past 9 days! Which, I might add, was an amazing experience. I had a lot of fun and came back with a bit of a sunburn as a token to remember it by (along with some pretty great memories and a few new clothes, duh). I will post some photos in a bit, but for now here's a outfit post from prior to my trip. pre-street festing it and getting a sweet sun airbrush tattoo.
